What is “Virtualization”?

In the traditional IT infrastructure, one computer is used for the single operating system and single application (i.e. single server). In this scenario (i.e. one machine, one server) the computers are mostly under-utilized.

With today’s improved hardware, a single computer can act as multiple virtual computers. It can run multiple operating systems simultaneously and can host multiple applications (i.e. multiple servers) using a single computer. This significantly reduces the expense of hardware-purchase.
